Mahindra marks 9 new names; can be used for future electric vehicles
– Purely electric SUV concepts unveiled on August 15
– Electric version of XUV300 to debut in the coming months
Mahindra and Mahindra have registered a trademark for no less than eight new names. All applied names have a common “XUV” prefix followed by e1, e2, e3, e5, e6, e7, e8, and e9. Interestingly, the Indian automaker is set to unveil five new EV concepts tomorrow and we think those names could be used for the next EV lineup.
The recent teaser video released by Mahindra hinted at four coupe-like SUVs and a full-size SUV concept that will be unveiled under the “Born Electric Vision” sub-brand. All of these designs will be conceptualized and developed at Mahindra Advanced Design Europe in the UK. Mahindra’s EV lineup is also expected to score high on new technologies. The teaser also hinted at a dual-screen setup with customizable display screens for the instrument cluster. EVs are also expected to come with dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, power front seats and smartphone connectivity.
In addition to this, Mahindra is also expected to introduce the electric iteration of the XUV300 compact SUV in September 2022. Codenamed “eXUV400”, the electric SUV will be launched in early 2023.
In other news, Mahindra unveiled the Scorpio Classic. Sold alongside the new Mahindra Scorpio-N, pricing for the Scorpio Classic will be revealed on August 20. The Scorpio Classic gets visual upgrades, new features and a modified diesel powertrain mated to a manual gearbox.
