Rivian is a modern dose of chicken soup for the soul
Toothy smiles, loud laughter, and joyful eyes cover every nook and cranny of Rivian’s story, making it more than just an electric vehicle startup. One glance at its website, and you won’t find all vehicles. You will see people. People who have fun, explore, bask in the sun and most of all, enjoy the outdoors.
When Rivian invited Teslarati at its First Mile Bay Area tour event, we were excited to get a little taste of the outdoor adventures the company promises with the R1T. And we wanted to share the experience with our friend Arash Malek. After all, Rivian is also the community.
“Significant change happens when people come together. This is how we built Rivian, and this is how we want to build our community. – RJ Scaringe
At the event, Tanya greeted Arash as if greeting a friend. He was greeted with welcoming smiles and a promising day with the R1T ready to hit the dirt roads.
Arash was pleasantly surprised by Rivian’s R1T pickup truck, pointing out its impressive handling and traction. “Grip on dirt is like grip on pavement,” said Arash Teslarati.
The R1T crisscrossed muddy paths amidst a backdrop that seemed straight out of The Lord of the Rings‘Hobbit Village. Out in the green it was just Arash, driving the R1T with a few cool people urging him down the dirt roads.
And that’s what Rivian wants to bring to customers. The promise of adventure with friends, family and a little bit of calculated danger.
Rivian’s IPO took place recently, making history as the sixth-largest ever listing on a U.S. stock exchange. RIVN is also the highest quotation of 2021, and a few analysts and investors are puzzled.
The company’s historic IPO could be attributed to what Rivian actually provides as a car maker. When it comes to the R1T, Rivian isn’t just selling the first fully electric pickup truck on the market. It’s giving people a chance.
The Rivian R1T starts at $ 67,500 before tax credits. At this price, the R1T appears to rival the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX. However, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe has previously said he wants R1 vehicles to have a “Patagonian-like feel to enable adventure,” referring to the iconic top sustainable clothing line. range.
The Patagonia brand has been known for decades among outdoor explorers. Given its history, it’s easy to see why Rivian wants their sustainable R1 vehicles to reach the heights of Patagonia.
Global Expedition Vehicles, which specializes in ground vehicles for the adventurous at heart, has launched a Patagonian-inspired expedition vehicle that starts at $ 700,000. It is fully equipped for outdoor comfort, with a kitchen, dining area, bathroom and bedroom. It even has a sturdy zombie apocalypse-level exterior to boot.
A $ 700,000 land vehicle may be too much for some. So other outdoorsmen and overlanders usually buy pickup trucks and equip them with overlanding equipment. A landscaping can range from a few thousand dollars to $ 100,000 or more. Labor is usually the most expensive part of equipping a land vehicle.
The R1T sits between full luxury setups like the $ 700,000 Patagonia-inspired Expedition Vehicle and the simpler overlanding pickup setup. The Rivian R1T offers owners a high-end and comfortable outdoor experience. But in a more natural way, similar to outdoor experiences in a van equipped with landing gear. The R1T is also electric, so it also doesn’t harm the environment it is exploring.
“It’s like glamping but for off-roading. Glamroading“, commented Arash after his R1T drive.
At its price, the R1T makes this premium landing experience accessible, accessible to more families, friends and communities. And after a year indoors due to the pandemic, who doesn’t want to embrace the outdoors?
With the R1T and R1S, Rivian is inspiring more people to get out on the road and explore the natural world while maintaining the simple comforts we’ve built as a society. Rivian knew this years ago. People need to experience nature, its majesty, its serenity and its unity.
Rivian encourages people to use their R1 vehicles in the wild and to bond with others. After all, isn’t human connection the best chicken soup for the soul? Rivian gives people the chance to create their own adventures and share stories around a campfire or, in Rivian’s case, the camp kitchen.
