WWE trademarks new Becky Lynch nickname
Becky Lynch will have a new name over the next few weeks if a WWE trademark indicates where she is taking her character.
The WWE Superstar and New SmackDown Women’s Champion is often known as The Man. It’s a name given to her at the height of her popularity and before she left WWE to have a baby, missing over a year of in-ring action. Now that she’s back, she brings a new name with her.
Fans may have noticed that during Lynch’s recent transition to a heel role, she was called âBig Time Becksâ. WWE decided to run with the nickname and registered the name to ensure they own the rights to it in the future Wrestling Inc. reports that WWE registered the “Big Time Becks” trademark on September 13. It looks like she’ll be referring to herself a lot more often and don’t be surprised if the merchandise starts appearing with the nickname on it.
Lynch has used the hashtag a lot on social media and is likely to continue to draw attention to the name of Friday’s episode of SmackDown as she is called upon to play a role in Bianca Belair’s return to Knoxville, where she will be honored on SmackDown.
Is she Big Time Becks?
Some argue that that heel turn isn’t the right fit for Lynch and that the Big Time Becks character isn’t as finished as WWE is hoping. It was a risky decision to bring her back after a year of absence and with a ton of positive anticipation, only to see her beat Belair in 26 seconds, then turn on her heel in the following weeks. Lynch is gifted and she makes Belair a strong baby face, but it’s hard to say if fans still view Lynch as “a big time” after the move.
